steal her style

I loveee Cheryl Cole, what I like to call a healthy obsession? recently she was papped wearing this amazing cream leather jacket, emerald jeans and nude heels, an outfit which I think is vert on trend, and could be easily recreated. Kimberly also looks stunning in a nude dress and Chanel bag. I will now set myself the challenge of re-creating Cheryl's look using Debenhams products.

Cheryl's look:

1. Miss Selfridge Leather Jacket - £120
2. Dorothy Perkins - green roll up hem jeans - £30
3. Debenhams nude Arbella heels - £75

all these brands are available through concessions in Debenhams across the county.

scary moment

1 month until results day today. get back from a lovely/wild girls holiday to malia on the 16th, sleep all day on the 17th, then 18th of august I find out what the hell is going to happen to my life for the next 4 years. don't think I have ever ever been so scared in my entire life. If I don't get in and it wasn't meant to be this time around, I want to continue to work in retail for a year, retake some of my exams to improve my grades and reapply. That is unless I have an amazing time working and see if any oppertunities open up for me. I have really loved working over the summer, despite having little time with friends, I like having more of a role than a typical sunday girl, especially in the merchandising side i've seen from the refurbishment. We will see what happens, and what is meant to be. I would love to go to uni and think it would give me a step in the right direction, and even though a job is probably a slow way to work up, its not a bad job to be in to get where I want to be.

only time will tell....

let's get naked

this product has been blogged, reviewed, and raved about for months now, and every single beauty guru or blogger i read absolutely loves it. its the infamous Naked palette by Urban Decay and when I found out our Gloucester store was going to have an Urban Decay stand I was soo happy! i've wanted this product, for months, maybe just to see what the big fuss was, but its always been on my wish list but want to take a look at it in real life before I actually finally make the purchase (and use my staff discount on it too!)

the palette contains 12 eyeshadows with matte and shimmer finishes, with an eye shadow brush and a mini primer potion too! I think this palette would be a staple in any make up lovers kit as you could create soo many different looks between these shades. well worth the investment! even at £32 its still great value for money and I can't wait to see if Gloucester Debenhams will stock it. fingers crossed!

its currently in stock on the website but they sell out very fast so hurry!

it's prom season!

End of year school proms are on the increase, and most schools have one for year 11's when they leave secondry school, and even leavers ball for year 13's who are leaving sixth form or college. At my school, a girls grammar school, we had both, and at an all girls school, finding a perfect dress can be extremely stressful but a very exciting time! probably the first time you get to dress up and feel like a princess for a night and celebrate with your friends. Debenhams have a huge selection of dresses, and I have chosen 3 of my favourites to look at:

the short and playful dress

This dress was is from Warehouse, and was first attracted to the bright colour! I love jewel tones, and think this aqua colour would be perfect for a school prom. A shorter length, but still classy, formal, and the pleats from the waist would make this extremely flattering. retails at only £70 too! take a look here!

this dress is also available in red and black too!

the princess dress

Now, this dress reminds me of a fairytale. yes, its extremely pricey but I think its stunnning! I love the embellishment round the waist, the way the fabric drapes and the low v neckline. you definately would feel a million pounds walking down to a school prom in this dress! red carpet worthy even! available here!

the maxi dress

I think this might be my favourite! I love the rich dark blue colour of this dress, the one shoulder strap and the amazing pleated detail on the bust. The corsage details make it suitable for the prom adding a traditional touch to a modern maxi dress, the waterfall front would make it drape beautifully too! and for £135 I think it is very reasonable for the quality of this dress. 10/10! take a look for yourself here.

the perfect wedding shoe?

every girl's perfect combination = shoes + weddings! and I think I have found the perfect pair. these beautys are from Nine West and I wouldn't call them 'traditional' wedding shoes, but they are gorrgeousss! white stilletto heel, bow detailing with pleated leather and a concealed platform. who would ask for more?! nearly sold out so hurry to the website if you want to snap up a pair!

these shoes are £95 from Nine West and can be found on debenhams.com

to have and to hold, from this day forward

source: weheartit

it is officially wedding season! the bra fit department has been buzzing with brides, bridesmaids and guests looking for their perfect underwear to match their dress for the big day, and I have a few favourites from the bridal lingerie which is loved by customers alike!

the basque

this basque from Adorie Moi by Ultimo is my favourite, its subtle, yet extremely delicate, pretty and not too fussy with detail which you don't need under a wedding dress. the boning makes it extremely flattering and I love the sheer panels! more infomation can be found here! retailing at £35, and to complete the set can be paired with matching suspenders, thong, brief, or shorts.

the strapless bra

there is still only one strapless bra which I highly recommend which is the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Bra as mentioned in my previous post. this bra would not let you down, gives amazing uplift and cleavage and would be the perfect companion to a strapless wedding dress! the only downfall? i dont think it is as pretty as some of the other bridal lingerie, but it definately does the job, but a fully white bra with white lace may just be a little more desirable for some brides. take a look at this product here! retailing at £36 with matching thong available.

Debenhams have a huge range of services dedicated to helping customers including the free bra fit service, also offered in concessions such as La Senza and an instore order service to help find the size you need for the important day!

friday favourites

everybody loves a sale, right? la senza currently have their '£5 bra sale' and its definately worth a look! working in the lingerie department next to the la senza concession I work closely with their staff and love some of their products. my friends especially love the xxl bra boosting your cleavage 2 cup sizes! some styles have gone down in this sale too, causing a huge rush from my friends for a little help in the boob department!

staying in the lingerie department, with summer approaching - well, whatever the british summer has in stall for us this year - the need for a good strapless bra is one that customers have asked me for alot. with weddings to go to, proms, or holidays, the one bra that i always recommend to anyone is the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Bra.

priced between £34 and £36 I do think it is a little pricey, especially when recommending to young girls going to prom, but I definately do think it does the trick and is worth the money. I picked mine up in the sale when it had £10 off and with a generous staff discount made it a little nicer to the bank balance, and I am sooo pleased with it.
The 'hand technology' is a patent pending design, and has been designed to lift and hold the breast to give cleavage, uplift and stays in place. It even works fab for the 'fuller cup' ladies, and my friend who is a 32F has 2! she loovesss it. definately an ultime fave, an investment yes, but worth every penny!

tuesday picks!

every tuesday i want to show my top 5 products that I have discovered in store this week! our Gloucester store is in the middle of going through refurbishment which is turning out to be so nice, clean and looks a lot more modern, and just generally a better shop! to go with the new escalators, a lick of paint and new floors, we also have some exciting new brands in such as H! by Henry Holland on young fashion which i am loving! miss selfridge has also arrived which has a lot nicer pieces than i expected, our closest store before was in Bristol, but overall i have been very impressed with what they have so far! nice breath of fashion air to the town which i am very very happy with :)

this week i'm going to focus on henry holland, as i've been really impressed with what we have in store. i think its quirky and has a lot of nice prints that are different to anything else i have seen around, and most of all its affordable! from working around the red herring area where H! by Henry Holland is in our store, i've noticed its appealing to alot of older women (mid 30's) more than the younger target market which i have found quite suprising! but nonetheless, shows how appealing it is to everyone and the kitsch retro prints are obviously very appealing to the gloucester women. here our my top 5:

1. Mustard Ruffle Shoulder Top £15

This soft, stylish mustard ruffle shoulder top from H! by Henry Holland recalls the fabulous fit and flare of the fifties with its puffed short sleeves and ruffles along the front of them. Its soft-touch jersey fabric gives it a comfortable feel.

what I most like about this top is the colour, its so pretty for summer days but the mustard tones make it warm and suitable for the colder months that are approaching! an interesting take on a simple t-shirt and could be easily layered and is a great staple piece for anyones wardrobe if you want to inject a bit of colour - or even brave the trend and colour block with bright accessories!

This light blue jersey tie blouse from H! By Henry Holland embraces the retro style perfectly with the tie front and sleeveless cut. With a button through front and gentle ruching to the shoulders, this blouse is fantastic for a light and relaxed fit that is styled with a feminine edge.
I really like the cut of this top, shirts have become very popular with modern versions using sheer fabrics, cropped at the waist, peter pan collars or tied at the front as in this top. great for summer where you want to expose a little bit of your waist and would look great paired with this pair of these chino shorts, also by Henry Holland.

3. Cream Jersey Swing Blouse £22

This cream jersey swing blouse from H! By Henry Holland is a beautiful design with a hint of classic style infused with a modern twist. The collar design sets this top up with an elegant flair as the swing style material sits weightlessly to your shape, ideal for a comfortable and relaxed fit.

i absolutely agree with the description given on the debenhams website! such an elegant piece suitable for a young, trendy market and i definately have grown to love a classic white shirt and think the jersey material makes it flow, and is very flattering. easy to layer, smarten up any simple outfit, just an overall very nice piece to have in your wardrobe!

4. Black Leopard Faux Fur Loafer £28

These black faux fur loafers from H! by Henry Holland's range of women's shoes feature leopard print faux fur panelling on their toes with a black cut-out strap. Perfect as a comfortable yet stylish day shoe.

loafers have been my shoe of choice recently, made popular by the preppy style of icons like Alexa Chung and Pixie Lott, they join the brogue trend of 'granny chic'. not too everyones taste, but i personally love them and the leopard print is a perfecctt added extra

5. Coral Patent Across the Body Bag £22

This cute across body bag from H! By Henry Holland adds a retro flair to your accessories with a bright coral design and patent finish. The on trend tan trim meets cream contrast stitching while the envelope top finishes with a twist lock fasten.

sadly, i haven't seen this in our Gloucester store as of yet, but i think the coral colour witht the brown tan looks fab! an instant way to add some colour to an outfit, as well as very practical and perfffect for the summer months.

the full H! by Henry Holland collection can be found online here!

hello and welcome.

Hello readers, my name is Jess and i am a budding sales assistant who wishes to be successful in the fashion industry. i have recently finished sixth form and waiting for my results to see whether I get to study Fashion Management with Marketing at Solent, or continue working and loving my job at Debenhams, mainly on the lingerie department, but have worked on all departments and enjoy a challenge of adapting to new areas. I hope to use this blog to demonstrate my interest in the brand and show what products I like, experiances and challenges I have and reviews about my top products. thanks for reading!
